Configuring Maple

Maple's user interface is quite customizable. Unfortunately, the default settings in versions 10 and up are less than desirable. In fact, in my opinion they are so awful as to make Maple almost unusable.

Fortunately you can adjust those settings by following these instructions.

Bring up Maple. Pull down the Tools menu and select Options.... This will pop up a dialog box in which you can enter customization options.

  1. In the dialog box, click on the Display tab.
Change the value of Input display from 2-D Math Notation to Maple notation.
  2. In the dialog box, click on the Interface tab.
Change the value of Default format for new worksheets from Document to Worksheet.
  3. Click the Apply Globally button at the bottom of the dialog box.
  4. Quit Maple by pulling down the File menu (at the extreme upper left of the Maple display) and selecting Exit.

From now on, when you start Maple, the new settings will be the default.
