The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), invites applications for a full-time teaching position at the rank of Lecturer, to begin in Fall 2012. Outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment at a higher rank. A Master~Rs degree in Mathematics or Statistics is required, and candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching mathematics and statistics at the undergraduate level. A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics or related field and credentials in Mathematics Education are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and coordinating multiple large lecture classes in Intermediate Algebra through Differential Equations; large lecture classes in statistics; directing the recitation activities of Graduate and Undergraduate teaching assistants; participating in curriculum development for a variety of undergraduate courses; taking an active role in the department's initiative to move introduction classes to active learning mode (www.umbc.edu/cnms/CASTLE); advising undergraduate students; and providing service to the department and university.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
