Calling all Math Majors!
You are invited to
U(2) Can Do Math+Stat
Beyond College
UMBC @ UMBC
Friday October 9th, 2009, from 12-6:30pm
On Friday October 9th 2009,
the
Department of Mathematics and Statistics
at UMBC will be holding
U(2)
Can Do Math+Stat Beyond
College
(UMBC @ UMBC), an
Information and Recruiting Event for our Masters and Ph.D. programs
in Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
This free event is designed for
Mathematics undergraduates who would like to learn more about
graduate school in Applied Mathematics or Statistics, and for
the faculty at local area institutions who mentor such students.
Math Clubs are especially encouraged to include
UMBC @ UMBC
in their Fall calendars. Jump in a car with a group and make a day of it!
UMBC has just been rated the
#1 Up-And-Coming School by
US News and World Report. Our dynamic faculty is excited
about having you join us in tackling some of the
mathematical and statistical research challenges of the 21st Century,
including:
- Optimization
- Numerical analysis
- Differential equations
- Stochastic processes
- Mathematical modeling and simulation
- Computational science
- Statistics
- Biostatistics
- Control theory
- Interdisciplinary research in mathematical biology,
energy and the environment, mathematical finance,
nonlinear optics, and engineering.
Our goals on the 9th are to
- Pique your interest in
pursuing a career as an Applied Mathematician or Statistician;
- Show you that Math and Stat can be applied
to solve real-world problems;
- Give you some tips for success
in grad school and beyond.
- And of course, we'll be plugging our
graduate programs and the support mechanisms we have to help you
achieve your goals!
